Jul 29, 95 38 Northern, CA. So - Been here, done this process as well. Quick answer, go with the You can use the for more bulk reloading than you are doing on the , but the caliber changes wont break the bank. I have a and while a wonderful invention, and it spits out ammo like nothing else, one does NOT want to do change outs if you don't have to.
It is a serious PITA to make adjustments from one setup to the next. Now, with that said, the is a nice setup for running and 9mm for the swagging you mentioned above.
If either of those are your primary calibers, I would think carefully about the Note, you can get a case feeder for the as well! Otherwise, s for the price of a is a compelling consideration Good luck. Mar 13, 10, 5, Southeastern, Pennsylvania. XL and get yourself the RT trimmer for it as well. I currently load plinking, precision ammo, 9mm, blk, and I do my 6. I have a Co-Ax for my precision bolt gun calibers. Padom, can you explain how you do your brass prep for 6. Does the RT have a die for 6.
I only have the RT as I bought my set up a long time ago. Dillon just came out with a 6. I have the trim die setup to bump shoulder back. I then run it through a 21st Century TiN mandrel to set. Nov 6, 26, 43, 53 MA. I have an S Caliber swaps are not the nightmare they are made out to be but its not like Id do a swap out to punch a quick twenty rounds of some other caliber.
When I load its generally for 6 or months worth of ammo at a whack. Its kind of like setting up the assembly line for the next model year.
I don't really understand the idea that S is best for loading only one caliber because I think to have it running its best you need to tear it down and clean it on occasion. A good PM is doing the same as a caliber change and you will probably do it as frequently as you change calibers.
The footprint of the machine itself is not so big if you are concerned with space. In fact I think the S is shorter than a case feeder with stand if you have height restrictions. Where the S becomes a space hog is in storing extra tool heads.
I load three rifle calibers - 6 tool heads - and two pistol calibers - 2 tool heads. It starts to get a little busy storing tool heads and stands. Wish this would have been my first pick , live n learn. EASY set up, easy to swap calibers, with extra tool heads. Absolutely enjoy it!!! Mark S. Really, what can you say. It's a Dillon.
I've got over 45, rounds loaded on one of my s, and I broke one primer op rod. I had a spare, and Dillon sent me a replacement under warranty that arrived in 2 days. My old has literally millions of rounds, and my is not far behind. A little tough to set up but now that I have it up and running I love. Cranks out. Mike M. I bought this right after the election, so I was late to the dance, but even with the elevated prices of reloading components, primers and powder primarily I still save a substantial amount of money over the cost of factory ammo.
After you get past the initial investment in dies, etc, it pays for itself if you shoot a lot--which we do in our house. I love customizing my loads and saving money in the process. My only regret is waiting as long as I did to "pull the trigger" on it. If you're thinking about getting an XL, do it. You won't be sorry. Phillip S. I have a Dillon set up for 9mm with a Mr Bulletfeeder option. It preformed over my expectations and I set up a second one for 45acp.
Best choice out there for the money. Frank W. Rated 4 out of 5. Its a pretty well made machine. Overall happy but i did have a few issues getting it going. I had to research Others who have had the problem online and on YouTube. I was able to eventually get them fixed. These are design issues did they should be correct in before they keep producing these things. In both cases it was a very low tech fix to alter the parts that were there.
In one case I email Dillon including pictures and I never got a response back. Weeks later I saw the way someone had corrected the same issue I was having and I was able to fix it. It does worry me about future customer service issues. Everything with the product was great. Dillon's detailed youtube video as well as printed instructions were great for assembly.
Scheels shipped amazingly fast. I received only two days after ordering without special shipping! Dillon presses are rock solid and simple work.
I use mine for cars processing and can crank out cases as fast as the case feeder will supply them. The has some nice updates over the that make this press ever better. Alan Q. Donnie W. All you need is Dillon and some love, of course, primers, brass, bullet, and powder. Once you tune it, it sings.
Ever since I bought it I have cranked out over rounds of , amazing Gregory K. Jim D. Great shipping time. Less than a week to receive. Press takes alot of time to set up
