Why zutara didnt happen

In return, she sets aside her anger for Zuko and resumes their friendship. And he's oh so happy to wrap them around her!

When the squad attends the play about themselves, Aang wants to sit beside Katara, but Zuko doesn't let him. Could it be that Zuko wants Katara all to himself? I think so! When the actors playing Zuko and Katara admit their feelings for each other, the real Zuko and Katara lock eyes and scoot away from each other. Aang confronts Katara about her nonexistent feelings for him, and she says she's not certain where she stands.

I'm betting it's because she just watched a play where she and Zuko were together, so she's busy thinking about her crush on him! Plus, Aang kissing her when she clearly doesn't want it is so problematic. When June calls Katara Zuko's girlfriend, they freak out and insist they are not dating. It's so obvious they're into each other! Zuko stops outside Iroh's tent.

He's so scared that his uncle will never forgive him that he's afraid to go inside. But Katara offers her wisdom and convinces Zuko that all will be well. Zuko and Iroh's touching reunion might not have happened without her help! Katara and Zuko plan to take on Azula together, but when they arrive at her coronation, he decides to fight her alone. He says it's so no one else will get hurt, but what he really means is so Katara won't get hurt!!

When Zuko sees that Azula is sending her lightning blast straight at Katara, he dives in front of her to protect her.

If that's not love, I don't know what is!! Whether he's trying to firebend to protect Katara or just reaching for her in search of comfort, all he wants is his Katara safely beside him. So her insight about Iroh and his feelings of betrayal toward Zuko, and about the feelings of forgiveness she herself has toward Zuko, definitely inform her wisdom about whether Iroh will forgive Zuko. And there, Zuko betrayed Katara, Aang, and Iroh, joining forces with Azula to take them down and almost killing Aang in the process.

Azula is a clever and strategic fighter, and she knows that Katara is important to Zuko. So during their duel, she aims a lightning bolt at Katara, knowing that Zuko is going to save her.

Zuko has clearly come to think of Katara as an important friend, and more than defeating Azula, he is interested in her wellbeing. In her free time, you can find her eating hummus, riding the Haunted Mansion, or being suffocated by her cats, Moo and Mai Tai. By Liz Adler Published Nov 13, Share Share Tweet Email 0. Still, I was happy for Aang that he finally got to be accepted and willingly kissed by his true love something he truly deserved after saving the world, in my opinion.

Also, Zuko was quite happy, having Mai by his side and as his girlfriend. But this blog post isn't about who was happy and who wasn't. It's about why Zutara would not have worked out. First from Aang's perspective: We all know that Aang had a crush on Katara from the very beginning of the series.

It began to develop drastically especially after they had become friends and were on their once-in-a-lifetime journey. Aang had made many attempts to tell her, and ended up, being afraid he might not come back, kiss her before the invasion, an act Katara saw as "out of nowhere". Now for Mai's perspective: She had had a crush on Zuko since she was a little kid. She was teased by her friends Azula and Ty Lee, although not for the same reason Azula thought it ridiculous; Ty Lee was all for it.

Zuko's side was unknown when he was a kid, but we can infer that he had feelings for her, too, seeing how fast they shared a kiss after they were reunited in Ba Sing Se seen in the Lost Adventures comic.
